Everest flights from Kathmandu at a glance
The classic Everest flight is a scenic round trip by plane. Buddha Air describes its Everest Experience as a flight from Kathmandu into the Himalaya and back, planned daily and lasting about one hour. Departures start early in the morning, from 06:15 local time on the product page, at Tribhuvan International Airport. Yeti Airlines also lists a Mountain Flight of about one hour from Kathmandu.
You do not land at Everest and you do not reach the summit. You see the range through the window. Check the current timetable of each airline before you plan.
This site is independent and not connected to any airline, helicopter operator or authority. Prices are those published in 2026 and can change.

Plane or helicopter: the main differences
The price units differ, so the figures below are not directly comparable.
| Option | What it is | Published price (2026) | Landing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mountain flight by plane | Round trip from Kathmandu, about 1 hour | $275 per person at one agent, with ticket, taxes and service fee | None at Everest |
| Helicopter, group trip | Shared flight to the Everest region with hotel pickup | From $1,399 per person | Not guaranteed |
| Helicopter, private Kala Patthar landing | One helicopter for your party | $5,300 per helicopter, not per person | Advertised, not guaranteed |
The $275 price comes from an agent, not from an airline, and it need not match what Buddha Air or Yeti Airlines charge for the same flight. Ask which airline flies your ticket, whether a transfer is included and what time you depart.

The helicopter trip in more detail
What the advertised group package includes.
The group package
One helicopter operator advertises hotel pickup, a shared helicopter flight to the Everest region, breakfast at the Everest View Hotel, national park fees and airport taxes in its group price. The product name mentions the base camp, but the title alone does not tell you whether you land there.
Landings are not promised
An advertised landing at Kala Patthar is not the same as a current permission on the day. Weight, weather, the landing spot and the time on the ground can all change the plan. Do not book on the assumption that a landing always happens. More on helicopter tours and on Kala Patthar.
Private or shared
The private price of $5,300 is for a whole helicopter. The group price of $1,399 is for one person. Compare per person only if you know how many people fly in the private helicopter.
Season, weather and safety
What to expect from the sky.
Best months for clear views
An older Buddha Air report prefers autumn and winter because of less cloud. Kathmandu's climate table shows 7.5 mm of rain in November and 59.4 mm in October, against 359.6 mm in July. Fewer clouds are likely in the dry months, but no month guarantees a view. See the weather page.
Weather can cancel a flight
A daily schedule is not a promise that a flight takes place. Ask about the cancellation and refund terms before you pay.
Flight safety
The UK Foreign Office (FCDO) warns of serious accidents with aircraft and helicopters in Nepal. No flight can be called safe in general. Follow the crew's instructions and read the current travel advice for your country.
Good visibility in the valley is not summit weather
A clear flight does not mean safe conditions high on the mountain. Flights and climbs are separate matters. For climbing see the climbing page.
What to ask before you book
The published pages leave several things open.
Which airline and which departure
An agent's ticket does not tell you which airline flies you. Ask for the airline, the departure time and the meeting point. Early departures mean an early start at the airport.
What the price includes
One agent includes ticket, taxes and service fee in $275. A transfer to the airport is not included unless the offer says so. Fares for children, baggage rules and online fees can differ by offer, so ask.
Cancellation and weather
Ask what happens if weather stops the flight: refund, rebooking or a later date. Get the answer in writing for your date.
Price per person or per helicopter
Check the unit before you compare two offers. A group price is per seat and a private price is per aircraft.
